Pinnacles Pics

Home to both bats and condors, Pinnacles National Park is a great place to get away from it all and spend a day exploring.

Oh I Wish I Were...(Mobile Version)

Thanks to Molly and Spence -- Hotdogger Team 33 -- for paying a visit to the Beach Boardwalk last week. We do, however, have to question their dog-topping preferences...TSG is firmly in the no-ketchup camp in the sausage condimenting department.

Sussing Out The Giant Crab Of Eureka

Passing through the NorCal burg of Eureka this afternoon, TSG got a drive-by glimpse of this oversized metal crustacean where 101 bends south just past the downtown area. At the moment we were disinclined to stop for further investigation, so we took to the interwebs to do a little sleuthing later on.

A quick google street view search showed the big guy there as well:

A little more digging came up with a slightly better image and a couple of local stories revealing that the big crab was created by metal shop owner Dan McCauley for the town's 2018 Street Art Festival and subsequently made an appearance at Burning Man in 2019.

So now we (and you) know (at least some of) the rest of the story.

You've Heard Of Cement Shoes?

Well, here's a pair just for you. These were used for a slightly less nefarious purpose than the usual trope. In this particular case, the cement-soled, twenty-pound-per shoe pair were used by Montana State Prison guards to put on potential escapees.
(Looks to us like they'd be pretty easy to untie and cast aside, but who knows...)

The Russell/Nesmith/TSG Confluence

Seen today at the Montana Historical Society's Charles M. Russell gallery,
this painting brought to mind the Nez tune that it inspired.

All around the campfire stood seven dusty men
The cook was drinking applejack, the cattle were all penned
Someone must have cracked a wise one because the men began to grin
Their smiles shot out like sunbeams and made the night give in
Because
Laugh kills lonesome every single time
That's why Charlie Russell painted it
And why it looks so fine
Laugh kills lonesome every single time

Thing You Might See In A Walmart Parking Lot...

...and be mightily surprised:

A Lamborghini Diablo (they go for at least $250K...and that's a cheap one)
Perhaps the owner shops at Wallyworld to save money so he can afford the finer things in life?
