TSG is currently reading Robert Sullivan's "The Thoreau You Don't Know: The Father of Nature Writers on the Importance of Cities, Finance, and Fooling Around". It's an interesting discussion of Henry David Thoreau's life and times, his relationships with his contemporaries and the author's take on how we might assess the man and his work in the current day.
So, anywho....as we returned from our morning walk around the 'hood today, we noticed some litter on the lawn in front of the apartment. Stooping to pick it up, it turned out to be a page torn from a paperback book.
You can imagine our surprise when we looked a little closer at the piece of "litter", seeing the title of the book in the upper right hand corner:
On the flip side of the page, there's a very appropriate observation from H.D.T. himself:
"How vast and profound is the influence of the subtle powers of Heaven and Earth!"
Indeed.
