As is our wont, we did an antique store crawl of the Cannery Row shops in search of interesting vintage paper. Imagine our delight when we came across this postcard from the late 50s/early 60s:
We attempted duplicate the postcard photo but the new pool, landscaping, different camera/lens equipment (and probable street widening) made it tough to achieve the same perspective. You get the general idea. We showed some of the hotel staff the postcard and they got a big kick out of it.
By the way, we can definitely recommend the property for anyone looking for mid-range lodgings. Specifically, try to get room 142, a two-room suite with large windows looking out over the neighborhood to the wharf and bay.
