Heavens To Betsy

 Commanding the corner of Highway 1 and Gimpy Gulch Drive, Big Betsy the Giant Spiny (no claws) Lobster is supposedly the second most photographed artifact in the Florida Keys. Oddly, none of the Rain Barrel Village shops behind Betsy has any Giant Lobster souvenir stuff for sale. According to one of the shop owners, selling memorabilia featuring Betsy's likeness is forbidden due to some sort of copyright issue.

Screaming Fish Eagle Takes Flight With Meal

 If you're interested in seeing Ospreys, the Flamingo area of Everglades National Park is the place to go. In an hour's ramble, we saw at least a dozen, including this guy, who didn't take kindly to us walking up and getting a little too close to his lunch spot.

On the agenda today was a visit to Florida City's landmark "Robert Is Here" fruit stand. We tried their signature Guanábana smoothie and it was...different, but pretty good. (The fruit's Wikipedia entry describes the flavor as "a combination of strawberries and apple with sour citrus flavor notes, contrasting with an underlying thick creamy texture reminiscent of banana")
