Meet Ed's Meat Head

We suppose "Zombie Face Meatloaf" would be more accurate, but what the heck--the white rice maggots are a nice touch, don't you think?

TSG had planned to post our annual slideshow of neighborhood Halloween decorations, but there isn't enough new blood out there (so to speak). Too many cookie-cutter collections of same-o store-bought crap --maybe next year we'll expand our Halloween horizons and check out some new neighborhoods.

Lucky for us, The Bro emailed us this pic of his entry to the Academy Archives "Secret Gore-met" contest.  No word on what the competition was like or how his entry fared (or tasted).

Creepy, but not really crawly...maybe more kind of oozy?

Ever see a land planarian? Well, neither had we until a couple of days ago. According the the University of Florida's website, "The land planarian Bipalium kewense Moseley was first described from a greenhouse at Kew Botanical Gardens near London, England, in 1878. This species is believed to be native to Indo-China, and has been found commonly in American greenhouses since 1901."

TSG was somewhat intimidated by the thing (was it a leech of some kind?), so we kept our appendages at a discreet distance. Turns out we were never in danger, but the damn thing still squicked the hell out of us.
