Dedicated to Lefty Mudersbach

A visit to "Big Daddy" Don Garlits' drag racing museum, which somewhat disappointingly doesn't have any Lefty Mudersbach memorabilia. For those not up on their top-fuel drag racing history, Lefty was a contemporary of Garlits who dominated the SoCal strips in the early 60s. His other claim to fame, of course, is his "cameo" appearance on one of Stevie Guitar Miller's signature tunes.

Red Touch Yellow...

...kill a fellow.

So goes the rhyme when you're trying to tell if the snake you've come across is the most venomous species in North America.

Encountered at Silver Springs State Park, the serpent was originally sighted by another tourist and misidentified by a glass bottomed boat helmsman as a (harmless) king snake.

Luckily, when the critter slithered out into better lighting a more accurate ID was made and a call was put in for reptile relocation.

Dreamin' On Wakulla Springs

Famous for it's Jungle Boat tours and being a filming location for The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Wakulla Springs State Park is one of TSG's favorite places in Florida. The Jungle Boats are undergoing maintenance so no tours are on offer, which is a bit of a drag.

However, the main attraction as far as we're concerned is the diving tower. Jumping into that crystal clear 68° water is as much fun today as it was 20 years ago when we first visited this iconic Florida location.
