World's Smallest Mountain Range?

That's how Sutter Buttes are described in this display at the Oakland Museum:

They're really not a mountain range, but  a series volcanic domes.
Situated as they are in the midst of farmlands and deltas, they're visible for miles in every direction. They beckon the adventurous traveler to come closer for a better look, but public access is restricted to guided hikes sponsored by the Regional Land Trust.

Unfortunately there were no scheduled hikes available while we were in the 'hood. All we can offer at this time are a few shots of the Buttes looming tantalizingly in the distance.

Hopefully TSG will be able to get back for a visit in the near future and  provide a more intimate trip report.
