A Case Of Mistaken Identity

Today TSG visited the extremely impressive Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, which has aptly been described by some as "the Smithsonian of the Southwest". In one of the display cases of vintage cameras we got a little blast from our past*: an Argus C3 35mm camera.

Looking a little closer though, we noticed something amiss. The label for the camera read "Kodak Brownie model B 1891-1903"

Hmmm, we said to ourself, that's not right...the Argus C3 is pretty famous when it comes to vintage 35mm cameras. It even has its own wiki page:

Add to that, the Argus doesn't look anything like the Brownie 2 Model B:

So somebody made a mistake. No biggie really, but very curious. And in case you're wondering, we didn't say anything to the staff, but on second thought maybe we should have.

*Our dad had one, and one day TSG the younger decided to see how the thing worked...by dismantling it into it's component parts. Unfortunately the parts didn't go back together as easily as they came apart and we ended up with a non-functioning camera. The only good thing about the situation was that dad hadn't used the camera for years, having moved on to other models. Thus ended our budding camera repair tech.

We had one of those brownie cameras when I was little. It took forever for us to get pictures. No money for developing pictures.

We had a Brownie, but not the one pictured. It was definitely brown colored, however.

As for the mislabeling, yeah, I might've strongly considered bringing it up with the staff. Or maybe just emailing the place after the fact in a friendly, non-judgemental kind of way.
