Carpenteria's Big Ol' Tree

Planted in a "biggest Torrey Pine" competition in 1888, the Wardholme Pine is 125' tall, has a spread even larger (130') and is over 20 feet in circumference. You can find it in an empty lot on Carpinteria Ave. next to theLucky Llama Coffee House.
A dendroid TSG can surely love.

Yep. Mighty trees are mighty cool indeed. Gotta say, though, at least from this distance, this tree appears at best to be a wanna-be "pine" tree. Seems built and branched more like a deciduous fellow.

Doing a little casual research, it seems that the Torrey Pine is one of the rarest pines in existence today. According to wikipedia there are only 100 or so trees left in their native habitat.
