The Green Green Grass Of Coe

One of our rites of Spring is a ramble along Henry Coe State Park's Hunting Hollow Road. The rainy season is just about over, so this is the time to enjoy the verdant foothills of the southern Diablo Range. The oaks are still thinking about leafing out, but the wildflower bloom has definitely begun.

In addition to some fine, peaceful nature, it would appear to be devoid of people. Hence, perhaps, "peaceful."

Not totally devoid of people--I saw 2 other hikers in 3 hours. So, pretty close to having the place to myself. Of course visiting mid-week early in the morning is one factor, added to the fact that Hunting Hollow isn't as well known to the general public as the area where the headquarters and campground are located. One additional factor might possibly be the 7 or 8 stream crossings required at this time of year that pretty much guarantee getting your feet wet if you hike any distance at all.
