Disc Golf On The Road: Summer 2023 Edition

Glad you had some unwind opportunities on your intellectually strenuous roadtrip, sir.

This reminded me that one of the very first patent applicaxtions I wrote was for a disc golf goal, chains and all. I don't recall if that was the very first time someone conceived of that idea, or if their's was just an improvement of some kind on prior designs. Probably the latter.

Actually, the "unwind" opportunities came with their own unique types of stress.

Heat and humidity were major factors--during this trip a lot of my rounds were played in 80 degree temps with little shade and humidity high enough to have me sweating buckets after 3 or 4 holes.

And there's the frustration of finding the tees and "holes". Some courses were well marked but that was the exception rather than the rule. Sometimes there was an arrow or a well-worn path to the next tee, but not always. Many times I just looked for a basket in the vicinity and used that as the next target.

Also, there's the joy of searching for wayward drives when playing solo. A hook or slice into tall grass or bushes can mean 10 minutes or more of searching (and swearing) At $15 a pop, losing a disc is an expensive proposition.

Finally, speaking of disc catcher design, somewhere along the way I developed a psychological block when it comes those baskets. I don't have problems with approach shots but outside of about 10 feet, my putting absolutely sucks.
