...aka kinda creepy* wildlife you might meet whilst wandering around in the foothills on a fall day.
*depending on the individual, encountering any or all of these
critters could potentially trigger a severe flight response

I'm good with the spider. It looks, to my inexpert eye, that you actually came across three different snakes? Each of which deserved a bit of quickly-gained space before taking a more appraising view? At least one of those kind of rattled my nerves, if you get my drift. The piggies are kind of amusing.
As much as I would've liked to seen a rattler or two, these particular danger noodles were harmless gopher snakes. No quickly-gained space was necessary, they were all visible from at least 20 feet away. I actually had to sort of creep up on them so as not to scare them off into the grass before I could get the pictures.
