TSG's Semi-Useless Bootleg Collection

These albums have survived many LP purges, mostly as mementos since we don't have a working turntable. Even if we were to pull out and refurbish the old JVC VL-5, the records didn't sound that great to begin with and are full of scratches and pops from less-than tender care back in the day. Besides, there's a good chance that a quick search could probably come up with  a better-sounding needle drop on youtube anyway.

Good stuff for sure. Once I moved to the midwest, I lost my connection/pusher/dealer for bootlegs. This isn't to say that such things weren't available, I just wasn't hip to such outlets. There was such a great record shop in San Jose that offered a nice variety of bootlegs, run by a scraggly, wiry guy who tended to wear dresses (and this before Phish became a thing). What the heck was his name? Eric, maybe?

And, I do believe I recall that Live Toronto bootleg you are showing. That is, I recall hearing it when it was a freshly-procured treasure in your hands.

The place you're thinking about is/was Underground Records. I distinctly remember that guy remarking on the Led Zep bootleg when I brought it up to pay for it...he said that Jimmy Page was in good form that night and that he could be pretty sloppy sometimes.

Heck, Jimmy could be pretty sloppy on his studio recordings, when you come right down to it. But perhaps that willingness to work at the edges is what allowed him to nail so many amazing performances, too.
