Bourbon & Real Life Intersect On The Road

Visiting the D.W. Correll Museum this morning, TSG noticed a couple of the bourbon decanters on display had connections with items we'd seen earlier in the trip. First off, one that commemorated the first Indy 500, which hearkened back to seeing the Marmon Wasp, winner of the first Brickyard Classic:

And second, a decanter depicting the Golden Driller,
the giant statue in Tulsa honoring Oklahoma Oilmen:

Holy coincidences, Batman!

Actually, what truly amazed me was seeing a giant guy like that who does not appear to be a re-purposed muffler man. Unless that's how buff the muffler man is when you remove his shirt.

Have to admit that I was a bit bummed that the informational plaque on the derrick was covered up by the Pepsi advert. I pondered how I might lift the promotional banner somehow to get a pic but it proved to be an impossible task.
