Any time someone says they're heading to the Moab area to visit Arches, Canyonlands, etc, I always recommend taking Utah 128. It's like driving into a western movie/TV/commercial set that goes on for miles and miles and miles. I'd rate it even better than Monument Valley. I have a book called "Where God Put The West" that documents the many productions that used Moab area locations; worth a read for western fans.

Around 1:36 is my favorite spot in this silent tribute to your meandering Utah wanderings.
