I recall the live coverage of the Eagle landing etc. Pretty cool stuff, but to a kid, it was still all just part of "normal." Didn't strike me as amazing or monumentally historic. More like a genuine "cool" followed by, "I'm gonna go outside now. Let me know when it's dinner time." Sheesh.
I also remember having a little 8mm film reel with highlights of the launch, the moon landing and walkabout, and the return splashdown. So I DID think it was all cool enough to warrant getting at least that.

I remember this day so well. I was at my Grandpa's, I would look at the TV and then run outside and look at the moon.
