The Amazing Aztec Cylorama

The undisputed highlight of the Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village is
Valenty Zaharek's "Pecos West".

Mr. Zaharek created this 18' revolving depiction of the old west in the 60s and displayed it in Sedona and as a traveling exhibit at fairs. It features hand-carved pueblos, mesas, campfire, assorted wildlife and unfortunate cowboys.

Add some narration and some music to the mix and it all adds up to a classic road trip experience.

Pretty Good Badlands

Out in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico, the Bisti Badlands have long been on TSG's road trip bucket list. It was a little too cold and windy to explore too much--the best parts are miles further into the badlands--but these pics give you an idea of the scenery.

p.s. If there's a place with better clouds than New Mexico, TSG is unaware of it.

Greetings From...La Jolla (?)

On the hunt for vintage postcard folders in ABQ's Nob Hill district today we were happily surprised to find a near-mint packet extolling the virtues of TSG's hometown. Even more surprising was the image of Scripps Memorial Clinic (now a high-end condo complex)--where we were ushered into the world all those years ago.

Tourists Enjoying View Of 82nd Highest Bridge In World

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge
looking east towards the Sangre de Cristos

From their viewpoint, it's unlikely they could see the herd of
Rocky Mountain Bighorns on the far rim:

Pick A Card...HONK!...Any Card

Seen @ the Rail Yard Farmer's Market
(Looks like the "Success" and "Awareness" cards--wonder what the gander made of them?)
