Interesting Eel-related Article In The Evening Standard (not written by Sparks)

Link to story:There's no substitute for threatened eel and pie shop, says Who star Pete

From the article:

"Rock star Pete Townshend has joined the campaign to save one of west London's last surviving traditional pie and mash shops from demolition.

This week Hammersmith and Fulham council approved plans to regenerate Shepherd's Bush Market. They propose knocking down Victorian shops in Goldhawk Road, triggering a wave of protest from traders and residents.

Audrey Boughton, co-owner of A Cooke's eel, pie and mash shop, which has been in the same family since 1899, said: "The area needs to be revitalised, not destroyed. There were 114 letters of objection - the council rode roughshod over local opinion."

TSG is all for saving old haunts of the rich and famous, but we think that gentrifying Sheppard's Bush might, in fact,  be good news for the eels.

That Ain't No Frost On That Pumpkin!

A typical break room in a typical office: the usual microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, rice cooker, fridge and water cooler.   But, wait, what's that atop the fridge, you ask?  Well, it just happens to be leftover from the Halloween potluck.  Sort of an "accent piece", if you will.

TSG pretty much resigned from the potluck gang at work a couple of years ago.  The graphic photos below illustrate one of the key reasons: people never clean their (pardon my French) shit up!

No haz-mat suits were available this morning, so rather than attempt a toxic clean-up, we decided to conduct a little experiment and see how much longer the rotting pumpkin would remain atop the fridge. Perhaps unsurprisingly, somebody got rid of the putrescent gourd about 30 minutes after these photos were taken. Kind of a bummer, but least we were able to capture the moment and share it with y'all.

Bon Appétit!
