After a week of unsettled (to put it mildly) weather, TSG felt like the road trip gods smiled on us today. Having the Cape Reinga Lighthouse to ourselves on such a brilliant morning was a major high point of our visit, both figuratively and latitudinally speaking.

That is an amusingly squat little fireplug of a lighthouse. Didn't quite understand that until the video turned to document just how high above sea level that thing is. (Any info on what the solar cells power? Can't believe it would gather enough battery juice to power the lighthouse light all night long?)
