I am kind of a fan of little towns that go for a "world's biggest" whatever. My mom's hometown, Starbuck, MN, has a pop of about 1,000 people, MANY of whom stem from the original Scandinavian homesteaders. Lefsa is a kind of potato bread/tortilla that the Scandinavians enjoy (color me as being amongst them) and Starbuck is, in fact, the home of where the world's largest lefsa was prepared and cooked. Something to be proud of.

Trivia tidbit: Starbuck MN is just shy of 45 miles (as the crow flies) from Eagle Bend MN, the site of my paternal grandparents' farmstead.

Whoa. Since my relatives were amongst the first homesteaders there in the 1800's, pretty much guaranteed that some of my ancestors knew some of your ancestors.

Perhaps they wrote songs together . . . .
