Beaver Patrol

Beavers in San Jose? Apparently so...sightings have been reported along several watersheds in the valley, including Los Gatos Creek in Campbell. We haven't seen the critters themselves, but there are what appear to be gnaw marks visible on the trunks of several trees.

We got ‘em here in Monument Creek too. Haven’t seen them, only evidence

Remember the little lake behind our house in Illinois? We had a beaver take up residence there one year. Took down a few trees and certainly put beaver graffiti on a few more. Everyone pitched in for a guy to trap the thing and relocate it to a more beaver hospitable area.

I've only seen a couple of beavers in the wild. One was swimming in the Belle Fourche River where it runs alongside the Devils Tower KOA. The other one was hanging out on the edge of the Colorado River next to the Lee's Ferry boat launch, which I thought was kind of odd, it being pretty much a desert environment.
