The greatest guitar player ever. Thanks for the music, Jeff...

The morning news referred to some list that had him as the 5th greatest guitar player. Really? I guess there is some room for subjectivity, but man, Beck had all the chops you could want or need plus an unearthly ability to pull un-guitarish sounds out of a guitar that were beautiful, striking, and/or even inspirational. May his heaven be filled with old cars on which to work. Everybody else's heaven can be filled with his guitar playing.
I had the good fortune to see Jeff 5 times. Once where he shared the stage with Clapton and Page at the ARMS concert, once where he shared the stage with John John McLaughlin. One show was the loudest I've ever experienced...3rd row at the Who Else! tour (with the amazing Jennifer Batten) where the sound pressure was such I felt like I was being pummeled into submission. Another tour (with the amazing Tal Winkenfeld) had one of the coolest moments in my concert-going career when Jeff casually fired off the theme from The Beverly Hillbillies as he coming back onstage for the encore
