One of the truisms of road trips is no matter how much time you have, there's never enough to see everything. Such is the case with Route 66. In our travels along the Mother Road we make an effort on each trip to tick something off the list of sites not seen. One of the items we checked off on the last trip was the 2nd largest cross in the western hemisphere* located in Groom TX.
There's a interesting collection of statuary surrounding the base of the cross, including, as you would expect, the 14 stations.
Groom has another Route 66 icon,The Leaning Tower of Britten, which we plan to cross off the list the next time we wander along the highway that's the best.

I do believe that we've spotted both of those crosses in our travels. And some others besides.
Now that I think about it, you'd think there'd be more giant muffler man guys holding large crosses . . . .
