There wasn't anyone around to ask about the car, but I zoomed in on the dash instruments and discerned the "Blastolene" label. After a bit of digging, I discovered the Blastolene "brand" was cooked up by a couple of artist/fabricators, Michael Leeds and Randy Grubb. Leeds created this vehicle, "Big Bertha" in his studio in Santa Cruz. It has quite a history, starting out life as a 1942 fire truck.
The other artist/fabricator, Randy Grubb, is the man who built Jay Leno's "Tank Car", the Blastolene Special.

Wow. That is "art."
The woodwork is crazy. OK, it's all crazy, come to that.
Kinda seems like the automotive equivalent of a Baja tune; so much work . . . and why?
