James Dean Treasure Trove

TSG found this 65 year-old scrapbook full of articles, pictures and clippings in an antique store during our recent travels. For some reason this collection--obviously a labor of love by a dedicated fan--really piqued our interest.  Talk about an impulse buy, at $40 it seemed like a bargain at that particular moment.  Hey, at the very least we figured it would be good for a couple of blog posts.

Stay tuned for a more in-depth dive into this once we've had time for a scanning session or two (or three).

Much here is remarkable, though not the actually fact that someone labored over that scrapbook. Presuming that artifact dates back to late 50's - early 60's, folks made scrapbooks about all sundry of things. I know I have one (buried somewhere in the basement) containing magazine and newspaper clippings details aspects of the early US space program. Gosh, think that might end up in some antique store someday? Going for $40? 10 cents? $100? Putting a price tag on something like that seems really hard.

As for scanning, I dunno. There is considerable charm here in seeing the clippings taped or whatever onto those yellowing pages. I think I might vote for photos (cropped as you see fit) that preserve that context.
