Things You Might Get For Free On Avery Island

Today as we signed in at the front desk of the Tabasco Museum, the nice lady handed us a bag containing a bunch of mini Tabasco bottles. Initially we thought they were free samples, which they were, but there's a little more to the story.  Later on when were were purchasing a few souvenirs, we commented to the cashier (another nice lady), about how generous they were with their freebees.

She said, "Did you read the back of the bottles? It's some foreign language, I don't know what it is. They didn't get shipped and now they're giving them out so they don't go to waste."

The print was too small to make out even with reading glasses. However a little photo enlargement reveals what looks like Arabic script.  Why the bottles didn't get shipped will remain a mystery but TSG is happy to have scored this little hot sauce treasure trove.

That's pretty unique for sure.

When we first moved to Singapore, the local McDonalds were running a promotion. If you ordered a cup of vanilla ice cream with your meal, you received a complimentary pack of three small bottles of different kinds of Tabasco sauce. Ice cream and Tobasco, you might ask? Yep. The locals found that a very pleasant pairing; saw many folks select a bottle, open it, and pour its contents on their ice cream. I decided to not discover its possible pleasures.
