Much better, I'd say, than collecting matchbook covers from various restaurants and bars and such. (Remember when that was a thing?)

During my brief perusal I sought to discern any sort of pattern to your collecting criteria. Didn't really spot anything beyond the obvious, which is, "Hey, a locale-unique coaster!"

Most of the coasters were acquired on my trip to the UK...great as free souvenirs that took up minimal space.
