A Shimming [sic] Fish

Visitors to the 'hopper house might notice an incongruously-placed rubber bass slipper sticking out from the side of one our tchotchke-laden bookcases...

Now, while this kind of thing fits in perfectly with our, shall we say, idiosyncratic decorative tendencies, the finny footwear is actually serving a practical purpose.

See, when TSG pulls out the mini-
trampoline, our inclement-weather indoor exercise solution (pictured here) for a bounce session, the vibration is transmitted in such a way that the bookshelf tends to thump against the wall. Plus which,  some of the gewgaws on the shelves rattle a bit on their bases. The end result of this is a rather annoying thump-rattle, possibly being transmitted to the apartment below.

So, our elegant (or less-than elegant, depending on one's POV) solution was to jam the caudal fin of the hapless faux fish into the breach in an attempt to alleviate the audible annoyance. Well, it worked like a champ/charm, so the shimming fish is now a part of the visual milieu here at Hermitage Arms.

And now you know the rest of the story.

The only thing missing here from assured recognition by the DIY Hall of Fame is a failure to somehow also employ either duct tape or a ziptie in your solution.
