Dendroidal subject matter is always a good choice. And oaks often offer up some interesting and/or unusual examples in those regards. Many of these are outstanding in those regards. On the other hand, a couple of them appear to having a raging instance of Mushroom Root Rot. Well, maybe not that. How about hemorrhoids instead?
The one with a giant burl on the trunk is what I would call the Grand Tree of Bacon Ranch. It dominates the corner of the ranch property next to a big old tin-roofed barn. Unfortunatly, it and many of its brethren are on their last legs (so to speak) due to the effects of drought, parasitic insects and disease.
