(aka: more stuff from the town that brought you finger cat paws)

Wow. Well, OK, my very first thought was, "OMG, what is that pelican doing to that turtle???" Upon closer examination, I was even more confused. Then, with even greater examination, I saw the strange composite critter for what it was. And I ended up wishing it were the simpler (albeit more crude) thing I had originally thought I'd seen.

I think that qualifies it as great art, right?

As for a lot of that other stuff, huh. I can like weird stuff and I can certainly like funny stuff. Some of those things are trying to be weird, but maybe are trying too hard? And "funny" didn't seem to be in the room.

I think I'm going to scratch that place off any future travel plans.

As far as scratching the place off your travel list, I'm sure the locals will be glad to hear it. The residents of Bolinas like to stay off the beaten path--they used to tear down the signs pointing the way to town on a regular basis. There's a big notice posted in the window of the general store that says "If you hare for an Air BNB you are hurting our community." reminiscent of the old "Keep Austin Weird" slogan.

I guess that keeping strangers away makes it easier to indulge in weird, bizarre, unnatural cultish activities.

Could "Driving a Dump Truck (to Bolinas)" be a worthy successor to the Chualar version? The guy hitching the ride is trying to get back to his true love, but the dump truck driver keeps getting lost cuz there aren't any signs to Bolinas?
