Good stuff. In the pic with the #'s, are you happy #3 (which is my bet) or grouchy #26? Or did I completely blow this?

And, by the way, Hawaii??? I don't recall knowing you did time there. Your dad was stationed there, I presume?

According to list on the back of the photo, Happy #3 is Patrick Maloney and Grouchy #26 is Dennis Stuutter. A quick google finds an age-appropriate Hawaiian named Patrick J. Maloney(!), but nothing for the Stuutter kid.

Dad was stationed at Pearl Harbor at the beginning of the 60s. We lived in base housing in Wahiawa--it was just a village back then but has evolved into a typical American strip-mall infested suburb since. Ed was born in Honolulu, which I guess makes him a native Hawaiian?

That would indeed make him a native Hawaiian.

So, if it's neither #3 or #26 . . . were you playing hooky that day? Or are you just being coy? Or was this before the gender-change operation?

Okay, I'll de-coy. In the first pic I'm the kid with the rather pained expression and big ears...#19. I seem a bit happier in the second photo but the ears are still kinda prominent.

Generally speaking, we all seem to grow into our ears. Noses, on the other hand, or at least mine, seem to outgrow us with age.

It was still a Territory when I was born!
