The doggie sign is kind of over-thought, right? The essential informational content is clear enough, but the other embellishments are kind of overdone to no particular purpose. Or I'm just too dumb to get it, which is certainly a possibility. A graphics artist with too much time on her/his hands?

Or maybe I'm just a grouch this Friday evening?

Oh, I dunno--my take is that when you're on a long stretch of boring featureless road (in this case I-5 in the middle of the Central Valley)little diversions like that are kinda welcome. Especially for folks like me who love to take pictures of that kind of roadside kitsch.

Incidentally, if you ever have cause to pull off of I-5 at Panoche Road exit, be sure and stop in at the Apricot Tree Diner and check out the extensive lunchbox collection on display there.

So's how come we aren't seeing a nice TSG gallery of that lunchbox collection???

Here's the deal w/the lunchbox collection: I made a point of going over to The Apricot Tree (just across the street from the doggie relief area) and I did take a bunch of pics while I was waiting for my club sammy and o-rings. However, the angle (again?) sort of forced me to hold the camera up high over my head and stand on tiptoe. This "technique" resulted in a large number of unsatisfactory images. I may post some of the better ones on Picasa in the future.
