Seen outside of Nicasio, this Burma-Shave-esque signage speaks to a growing controversy. The National Park Service transplanted a group of 45 Tule Elk to a "wilderness" area in Point Reyes back in 1998, but the herd now numbers more than 500. They have expanded their territory to neighboring ranchlands and dairy farms where they are seen as pests...very large pests with big friggin' antlers. Discussions between the Park Service and landowners have yet to find a solution to this ungulate mess.
