Speaking of, I have only seen one coyote on the trip so far--a mangy one at that--wandering around the date palm orchard at Furnace Creek. Not a single roadrunner to report, but I have seen a bands of pronghorns, prairie dogs and 3 very large tarantula hawks.
On second thought, I did see a coyote chasing a roadrunner at the Chuck Jones Gallery in Santa Fe.

That last picture looks like what the Coyote sees when chasing the Road Runner, just before he goes SPLAT.

Cripes. We see more coyotes than that here in our Chicago suburb on a weekly basis . . . .
Roadrunners, however, are a very different story.
