So. Some bizarre alley somewhere with little things stuck on the walls, processed with a bizarre distortion filter. What are those little things, and really, more importantly, who put them there? One artist with a vision, a class project, or is that some excellent cultural phenom where ordinary folks just stick their little goodies on the wall in a communal expression of . . . well, something?
This week's weird video was filmed on location at San Luis Obispo's famed "Bubblegum Alley". Perhaps unsurprisingly, it has it's own wikipedia page. The original idea was that still photos don't really do it justice (does a bubblegum alley even deserve justice?), so I went with a long tracking shot instead. That was a little too boring so I applied Windows Movie Maker's "3D spiral effect" and used a canned audio track from youtube. I think it cane out pretty well, especially the "reveal" at the end.
