Simon Sez

Simon as in Townshend...

TSG attended Simon's solo acoustic set at the sort-of-grungy-but-still-very-hip Cafe Du Nord in The City last night. It was nice to meet fellow Shouter Shaun (tour manager) and shake hands and express my appreciation to the junior Townshend brother. (Not to mention I got a personally autographed copy of Looking Out Looking In...woo hoo!)

Quote of the night: Relating a story about Paul Weller's distaste for America and Yanks in general, Simon declared, "I fucking LOVE Americans!"

TSG's rounds are certainly thorough!

Just curious - does Simon's act focus exclusively on his own material, or does he reach over and play some of the stuff he sometimes ends up playing with his bro' in other places on other nights?

ST didn't do any Who material at the show I saw, and I didn't really expect him to. I don't think he's down with playing that kind of stuff on his "own" tour. According to a report I read, someone asked him to sing "I'm One" at the LA gig, and his response was to hold out his guitar and and say "You play I'm One. I get paid a lot of money to play my brother's songs - I've got 500 of my own."

Goodness. Mildly touchy. Suppose that runs in the family . . . .
