Unfortunately we missed Miss Hedren's annual Labor Day visit to Bodega and the infamous nearby bay. The locals have nothing but good things to say about her, but it's clear the real draw is the legend of a portly bald dude who made a movie or two.

Ha! Great movie! One of the very few that, once viewed as a non-adult, kept me up all night! And when the sun came up and I finally felt safe enough to go to sleep, I immediately had a Birds-themed nightmare; the birds were after me and to protect themselves they wore Army Helmets. Not appropriately sized to their heads, but full-size Army helmets so that just their wings came out on either side. Laughable to recall, but bone chilling at the moment. That was the night that, to pass the time and wait for dawn, I read The Mouse That Roared.
