Trio on the right: special guest percussionists for "Hey Julie"
Man, TSG needed a dose of rock and roll, and the guys delivered tonight. Big time. There are advantages to being a fan of a "minor" band in venues like Slim's--it's fairly easy to get a spot up front if you get there early.
And on a hot night with a hot band and a hot crowd...well, that's just what the doctor ordered. One of the best shows we've seen in a long time. Mike Viola opened the show as he did a couple of years ago at the Cafe du Nord. He and his band The Candy Butchers are local favorites. He's a listen-worthy singer-songwriter with Wayne-esque lyrical tendencies.
Hilite o' the nite: the Radiation Vibe/Do You Feel Like We Do/Twilight Zone/Breakup Song/Mad World/Carry On/Jet medley. Possible video clip to follow.
And here it is:

Good band. Unusual stage presence, but I don't mean that in a bad way. That's quite the medley; did they play longish snippets from each tune or move quickly through them, as though each song were merely a jingle?
They played a good snippet of each song as illustrated by the newly posted clip. This is kind of a regular bit that they do, and it usually gets both roars of approval and mystified wtf stares, depending on the demographic of the crowd. In the past they've thrown tunes by Foreigner, Blue Oyster Cult, Bad Company, and others.
Adam wasn't too far off when he looked at the audience, sort of shrugged his shoulders and said, "They're all the same song!"
HA! Someone who must have been standing right next me posted this on youtube today!
Oops, I spelled my fake name wrong...rats!
Thanks for the video and video link; good to check out.
