Stills From SpɹO˥ ┴S∀Ǝ⅄

What won't we think of next?  That question might have crossed your mind, and you'd be right to ask. Sometimes even we don't know what we'll think of next. What a way to live, eh?

This week we'd like to share a few stills from a movie we watched last night with a most interesting title.  It was called Gentlemen Broncos. "Yeah," you're probably saying to yourself, "so....?"

Wait for it...we're getting there....what was even more interesting was the name of the story- and film-within-the-film.

Yep, we're talkin' about Yeast Lords this week, friends. (or, to be more precise...

Yeast Lords: The Bronco Years

Bronco is the main protagonist, played with aplomb by Sam Rockwell. (As you've never seen him before!*) Sam's Bronco is minus a nad, he nibbles on unappetizing beef by-products with "yeast-like properties", and fights off missile-equipped flying deer with a stream of pink vomit!

What more could anyone want?

NOTE: TSG is not, by any means saying that Gentlemen Broncos is a "good" movie. But we don't see Yeast in the media every day. In this particular case, maybe that's a good thing.

*Actually, come to think of it,
his performance reminded
us a little bit
of Zaphod Beeblebrox

OMG!

OMG!!!

This is beyond awesome!!!

The perfect way to bring on a Friday-heading-into-the-weekend!!!!!!

There are SO many places inquiring minds can go with this, TSG, but certainly foremost amongst these is . . . WHY were you watching this movie (presuming that you were blissfully unaware of its yeasty content)? Did someone recommend this to you? Does it have must-see actors? Was it the final and last video on the shelf at the corner "Otis's Neighborhood Video Land and Frozen Yogurt Parlor?"

As for missile-bearing flying critters and the ground-to-air use of vomit as a defensive measure, well, this is all necessarily going to take some time to digest.

IIRC, the trailer for G'men Bro's was one of the "coming attractions" on the DVD of Jennifer's Body. It piqued our interest mainly because of Jermaine (Flight of The Conchords) Clement. Yeast Lords was a complete surprise, but we immediately knew it was prime fodder for a TSG post.

Besides Clement, both Rockwell and Jennifer Coolidge have extensive résumés in much better films. They fit in quite well in the somewhat off-kilter tone of this film. The soundtrack is pretty decent, too, featuring Kansas, The Scorps, Buck Owens, Black Sabbath and Zager & Evans.

TSG is sorry to break the bad news: Otis has to close up shop last year after the incident with the Chinese-manufactured yogurt mix. Neighborhood Video Land is now a Joyeria and Nail Salon.
