Back in the day, when tennis was a regular thing for the ol' 'hopperoo, the Vilas Top Spin was my shoe. As Guillermo faded, Boris took up the endorsement duties. Since then, Puma has gone on to (IMHO) lesser things, chasing style over substance. Imagine my surprise to see my nineteen-eighties footware of choice become available once again. Hurrah! I love (ha ha) it!

No, the green Puma-swoosh incarnation is a new development. The original Vilas Top Spins were white on white, as were the subsequent Becker models. Sadly, the re-issues conform to the brand's narrow footbed agenda, so your humble g'hopper won't be sporting them as he had hoped. Que sera, and all that jazz....
