Monkee Momento

So we were a little bummed out upon hearing the news this week, and our thoughts went back to happier days...specifically Labor Day Weekend 1986, when the Monkees' 20th Anniversary Tour made a stop at Marriott's Great America. A wonderful show complete with fans of all ages screaming at the top of their lungs. We still have our rather grungy-looking trinket from that day, along with the memory of dating the lovely Susan Griffith.

ps: we have a Montrose Momento too, someplace, but
once again we're too lazy to go dig it out.

Andy Goldsworthy's Stone River

Finally got around to checking out Andy's work on the Stanford Campus.  According to a 2002 article, the sculpture is 320ft long and weighs in at 128 tons.  Just in case our readers aren't familiar with Goldsworthy's stuff, TSG recommends a viewing of "Rivers and Tides"  Not to everyone's taste to be sure, but we think some of his efforts are pretty darn cool.

True Confessions

On April 21st 1992, TSG called in sick from this pay phone:

We were perfectly honest during the short conversation with our boss. We said that we wouldn't be making it in to to work and that we had some kind of fever.
