Wish You Were Here?

(Image posted as a public service (!?) to our readers in less temperate climes)

The Anchorage @ Torrent Bay
Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand

Wish we were there? Hell yeah, we do. Fact is, TSG may very well find ourselves in the vicinity in...oh, say 101 days. But who's counting? If all goes well, our readers will be treated to updates from the north island of Kiwi Land sometime in mid-May.  All it takes is one click to buy the airline tickets.  Then the real work begins.

Hmmmm....wonder where the passport got stashed.....?

BOMBS AWAY @ TCHM

TSG recently visited the newly-reopened Computer History Museum and discovered this interesting display concept for the Norden Bombsight. Unfortunately we did not think to record a video clip of it (you would've seen the bombs dropping down to the target and exploding).

Much to our surprise, we encountered a kindred spirit of sorts in one of the other galleries:

More images from TCHM can be seen here (album is a work in progress, more photos will be added next week): http://picasaweb.google.com/yawndave/ComputerHistoryMuseum12211#

An Old Game (but new to TSG)

"It's very simple. Scissors cuts paper. Paper covers rock. Rock crushes lizard. Lizard poisons Spock. Spock smashes scissors. Scissors decapitates lizard. Lizard eats paper. Paper disproves Spock. Spock vaporizes rock. And as it always has, rock crushes scissors." -- Sheldon Cooper

This post inspired our recent marathon viewing of the second season of The Big Bang Theory  (RPSLS is older than that. Apparently the game pre-dates the CBS sitcom by nearly a decade.)
