Some Sort Of Steampunk/Batmobile Vehicle

    The woodwork is crazy. OK, it's all crazy, come to that.

    Kinda seems like the automotive equivalent of a Baja tune; so much work . . . and why?

    There wasn't anyone around to ask about the car, but I zoomed in on the dash instruments and discerned the "Blastolene" label. After a bit of digging, I discovered the Blastolene "brand" was cooked up by a couple of artist/fabricators, Michael Leeds and Randy Grubb. Leeds created this vehicle, "Big Bertha" in his studio in Santa Cruz. It has quite a history, starting out life as a 1942 fire truck.

    The other artist/fabricator, Randy Grubb, is the man who built Jay Leno's "Tank Car", the Blastolene Special.
