As Bad As A Murder Hornet?

Seen on the trail yesterday, a velvet ant, aka "Cow Killer".  Its sting rates a 3 out of 4 on the Schmidt sting pain index, supposedly comparable to that of the Asian Giant Hornet, which recently enjoyed 15 minutes of fame in the 24-hour news cycle. TSG did not endeavor to assess the stinginess of the little critter, but if you're curious you can search out the species-specific Coyote Peterson youtube episodes.

    At least nature did us all the favor of detailing and coloring the little beast in a fairly alarming and warning fashion.
