They Sleep All Night And They Work All Day

Earlier this month residents of Hermitage Arms* were notified the property had been sold. The new owners have wasted no time in addressing long-neglected issues. Unfortunately one such issue is tree root damage to sewer lines and walkways, requiring the removal of this magnificent dendroid. There goes our afternoon shade, along with a thriving microclimate, home to innumerous creatures (insert sad face here).

*New name TBD. A flyer was posted soliciting suggestions
with a $500 prize going to the winning resident.
However, the new name was supposed to be announced
a week ago so there is some mystery regarding the outcome.

  1. Ugh. Sigh. And, hey, your soundtrack music is way to cheerful and fun to accompany the ugly dismantlement of an otherwise healthy mature tree. Sucks sucks sucks. I get that it's a problem, but then, so is an aging relative with incontinence who moves in for well-deserved care. It's a mess, but ya do what's right. Move the sewer lines? Rotor rooter the lines every 6 months? Like I said, ugh.

Regarding the music, I did generate an AI mashup of "The Lumberjack Song" but decided against it -- too much chance of a copyright strike. "Adagio For Strings" came to mind, but that would've made the video even more depressing. Ultimately I just chose a youtube audio library tune that matched the clip time-wise.

  2. Did you submit a new name? How about "Treeless Arms"?

A good suggestion, but the submission date has passed. One thing's for sure though, "Shady Rest" is right out.

  3. As for a new name for the facility, how about De-dendroided Arms?

I was considering "Bough Down Manor", but I don't think it would go over too well.

  4. That said, Bough Down Manor wins, in my book. Or, perhaps, Bough No Move!
