On Wednesday, October 21st, TSG attended a gig by the well-known Christian Rocker, Vincent Furnier. This diary entry was about to go to press when late-breaking news supplanted it. Just as well, really. Considering the upcoming quasi-holiday, it's probably more appropriate to post it this week. See what you think:

These are nice shots. Are these DC originals? If so, it would appear that the photographer was somewhere between the first row and the stage . . . .
Good ol' Coop. His last album, Along Came a Spider, is a hoot. It doesn't appear from these photos, however, that he is necessarily performing this new material?
Alice and Halloween do seem made for one another.

ReplyDeleteIn plain (?) English, I was just about to post the VF/AC pics last week--but then the PT interview became available. As you suggest, delaying the Cooper pictorial until this week certainly made for a more topical blog post.
These are DC originals. The Warfield Theater has an open floor in front of the stage. I got there early and snagged a prime spot, as you can see. It's really the only way to see a show, considering the jabbering masses at concerts nowadays.
Alice played great setlist sprinkled liberally with old hits. My personal favorite of the evening was an extremely hard-rocking instrumental version of "Black Widow", featuring a blistering lead-guitar trade off between Damon Johnson and Keri Kelli.

ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, good confirmation of an excellent set list! Including Vengeance is Mine from the latest album and Dirty Diamonds, one of my personal favorites from that album of the same name. Really glad to see Dwight Fry still getting performance time. The only thing I might have changed at all is that encore tune. I think School's Out was the biggest selling single for AC, though, so I suppose he's stuck using that song in this role.
