Connies (Three Different Ones)

The Lockheed Constellation has long been one of TSG's favorite aircraft.
We were delighted to discover a trio of them at the Pima Air and Space Museum.

You've Heard Of "Foothills"...

...but what about "Leg hills"?

Or, perhaps, more accurately, leg-and-foot hills?

Face(s) Off

A selection of those "put your face here" boards seen on the trip so far.
The original plan was to copy and paste some humorous visages into the blanks,
but that turned out to be a bit more work than we had patience for at post time.

Invasive Species

Spotted in Walnut Canyon on the way to Carlsbad Caverns...Barbary Sheep, native to North Africa, became established in New Mexico in the mid 20th Century after being imported as zoological specimens and game animals. Efforts to reduce the population in Carlsbad Caverns National Park are ongoing.

Ruby Falls X 4

If you're willing to put up with an hour's worth of homespun cave humor, the crowds* and the now-inevitable tourist portrait attempt, the namesake falls is absolutely worth a visit. One of the more impressive cave formations we've seen.

*there must have been at least a couple hundred folks
in 4 or 5 tour groups spread throughout
the cave when we were down there

Bourbon & Real Life Intersect On The Road

Visiting the D.W. Correll Museum this morning, TSG noticed a couple of the bourbon decanters on display had connections with items we'd seen earlier in the trip. First off, one that commemorated the first Indy 500, which hearkened back to seeing the Marmon Wasp, winner of the first Brickyard Classic:

And second, a decanter depicting the Golden Driller,
the giant statue in Tulsa honoring Oklahoma Oilmen:

Another Ocean Denizen

If ever there was a Route 66 icon, the The Blue Whale of Catoosa surely qualifies...
